Roots goes digital! Nu het grootste deel van het oorspronkelijke programma geannuleerd is en op onze vertrouwde locaties 1,5 meter protocollen worden besproken, beweegt Amsterdam Roots zich voor deze festivaleditie naar een nieuwe online ruimte.

Van 25 t/m 28 juni 2020 presenteert Amsterdam Roots, samen met artiesten en partners, een multidisciplinair online festival waarin roots en identiteit centraal staan. De activiteiten variëren van online concerten, Zoom circus- en dansworkshops, verhalende performances, tot inspirerende talks en een online urban dance battle-workshop-performance-show.

Tijdens het openingsprogramma op donderdag 25 juni, live vanuit het Compagnietheater, gaan we met optredens, poëzie en discussie op zoek naar nieuwe definities van roots en identiteit. We zoomen daarbij in op zogenoemde Third Culture Kids: een generatie die is opgegroeid tussen de cultuur van hun ouders en die van het land waar ze hun kindertijd doorbrachten.

Roots goes digital! Now that most of the original program has been cancelled and our trusted locations are busy making 1,5 meter plans, Amsterdam Roots moves this years festival to a new online space.

From 25 to 28 June 2020, Amsterdam Roots Festival will present, together with artists and partners, a multidisciplinary online program in which roots and identity are central themes. The events vary from online concerts, Zoom circus and dance workshops, storytelling performances, debat and an urban dance battle-workshop-performance-show.

On Thursday 25th we open with a program, live from Compagnietheater, in which we explore new definitions of roots and identity through performance, poetry and discussion. Focus will be on the so-called Third Culture Kids: a generation that grew up between their parents’ culture and the one of the land where they were born and raised.
